Mayor Broome's Clean Sweep EBR Day Has been cancelled for April 14th.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, in partnership with Keep Baton Rouge Beautiful and the Great American Cleanup, will host Clean Sweep EBR Day, a parish-wide cleanup initiative, on Saturday, April 14.
Residents are asked to join Mayor Broome alongside metro council members, local business leaders, and community partners to pick up litter at various sites throughout the community. Registration will begin at 8:30am and cleanup will take place from 9am to 11am in targeted areas within the 12 Baton Rouge Metro Council districts.
“A clean city is not only beneficial to our residents, but it boosts tourism and economic development, and even improves public safety,” said Mayor Broome. “With buy-in from the entire community, we can eliminate the culture of litter in Baton Rouge.”
Litter costs Louisiana taxpayers an estimated $40 million yearly for disposal, enforcement of litter laws, and anti-litter education programs, according to Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
Clean Sweep EBR is in partnership with Visit Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Downtown Business Association, Baton Rouge Lodging Association, East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Geaux BIG Baton Rouge, and the Downtown Development District.
Volunteers may sign up individually or as a team. Cleaning supplies and water refreshments will be provided to all volunteers. For more information or questions, call (225) 381-0860.
